- PLOT /plɒt/ · noun, verb
- A plot is a plan or scheme, especially one that is secret or deceitful. A plot is also a section of land used for growing crops or raising livestock. Related: scheme, plan, plot, design.
- SETTING /sɛtɪŋ/ · noun, verb
- The process of setting something, such as a trap or a boundary. The surroundings or environment in which something exists or takes place. Related: placement, position, arrangement, situation.
- CHARACTER /ˈkærəktər/ · noun
- The combination of qualities, traits, and moral values that distinguish an individual person; also a person in a novel, play, or film, or a letter, digit, or symbol used in writing and printing. Related: personality, nature, temperament, disposition.
- CONFLICT /ˈkɒn.flɪkt/ (noun); /kənˈflɪkt/ (verb) — British; /ˈkɑːn.flɪkt/ and /kənˈflɪkt/ in US English. Stress falls on the first syllable as a noun and the second syllable as a verb. · noun, verb
