Report Cards word list, defined
- AUTUMN /ˈɔːtəm/ (US also /ˈɑːtəm/) · noun
- The season between summer and winter, during which temperatures cool and deciduous trees shed their leaves; in the Northern Hemisphere it spans roughly September to November. It is chiefly British usage, with 'fall' being the standard North American equivalent. Related: fall, harvest time.
- SWEATER /ˈswɛtər/ · noun
- A knitted garment, typically made of wool or a wool-blend, worn to keep warm, often in casual or sporty settings. Related: cardigan, jumper, fleecy, pullover.
- JACKET /dʒækɪt/ · noun
- A sleeveless garment worn over a shirt, typically made of fabric and fastened at the front with buttons or a zip. A jacket can be a casual or formal item of clothing, depending on the style and material used. Related: coat, jumper, windbreaker, blazer.
- PUMPKIN /ˈpʌmpkɪn/ · noun
- A type of squash with a hard rind and a sweet, often cooked and eaten in pies, soups, and other dishes. Related: squash, gourd, marrow, calabash.
- SCARF /skɑːrf/ · noun
- A piece of fabric worn around the neck for warmth or as a fashion accessory. Related: bandana, necktie, shawl, wrapping.
- BOOTS /buːts/ · noun

- MITTENS /mɪˈtɛnz/ · noun
- A type of hand covering, typically made of fabric or other materials, designed to keep hands warm in cold weather. Mittens are often worn as a fashion accessory or for functional purposes. Related: gloves, hand warmers, mitten covers, hand wraps.
- SWEATSHIRT /ˈswɛtʃɛrt/ · noun
- A casual, typically long-sleeved, pullover garment, often made of cotton or a cotton blend. Related: sweatshirt jacket, sweat, sweat suit, fleece.
- CHESTNUT /ˈtʃɛs.nʌt/ · noun
- The edible nut of the chestnut tree, or the tree itself (genus Castanea), which bears these nuts in a prickly bur. It also refers to a reddish-brown colour, and figuratively to a joke or story that has been repeated so often it has become stale. Related: hazelnut, acorn.
