- BAKE /beɪk/ · verb
- To cook food by dry heat, typically in an oven; as a noun, a dish of ingredients baked together, or an act of baking. Related: roast, cook, broil.
- BOIL /bɔɪl/ · verb
- To heat a liquid until it reaches the temperature at which it bubbles rapidly and turns to vapour; also, of a container or pot, to be heated so that its contents boil. As a noun, a boil is a painful, inflamed swelling under the skin caused by bacterial infection of a hair follicle. Related: seethe, simmer, bubble, fume.
- ROAST /rɒst/ · noun, verb
- A dish made from meat that has been cooked in the oven, typically served hot. To speak or write about someone or something in a harshly critical way. Related: grill, broil, sear, scorch.
