- A large, herbivorous mammal native to China, with distinct black and white markings, and a specialized wrist bone that acts as a thumb to grasp and manipulate bamboo stalks. Related: bear, mammal, herbivore, endangered species.
- BAMBOO /bæmˈbuː/ · noun
- A giant, fast-growing tropical or subtropical grass of the genus Bambusa and related genera, with hollow jointed woody stems. The hard, durable stems of this plant, used as a material for construction, furniture, tools, and crafts. Related: cane, reed, stalk.
